[ Haruaki nudges back, gentle and supportive. ]

[Sano manages a weak smile, feeling his heart seize up with anxious anticipation. He takes a deep breath.]

[He reaches for Haruaki's hand.]

[ Of course Haruaki takes his hand. Of course he does. He squeezes tight, swings their arms, and turns his attention to the crystal. ]

You'll be safe, and so will everyone else. I'll make sure of it.

[Haruaki thinks of Sano's safety too, of course. Sano supposes someone has to. They approach the crystal. He wonders...]

Do I have to say it out loud?

I'm not sure. I always do, but...

[ But of course Haruaki always does. Who is he, if he isn't loudly shouting his desires? ]

Well, whether you speak it out loud or just think it, make sure your mind is clear and your intentions are deliberate, Sano-kun. It's like when I had to harness the four gods!

[There's a shining light, but... that's all. Sano turns from the crystal and faces Haruaki with a pinched brow.]

[ Thank god gag manga deaths only last for a few panels at most. Haruaki shakes off his electrocution, no longer burnt to a crisp, and staggers to his feet, wobbling side to side like a weed blowing in the wind. ]

Th-those are Sano-kun's yakubyougami powers, alright... no doubt about it, ten out of ten, full marks... waaaah......

[ Did he just die one page ago? It's now fully in the past as Haruaki brightens back up, beaming at Sano with a thumbs up. ]

[Sano flexes his hands a few times, staring down at them, though they're never where his powers have particularly come from.]

I'll have to be careful now. I've gotten used to thinking carelessly...

[ Haruaki watches his hands too, grin gentling into a softer, more reassuring smile. ]

What can I do to help you with your thoughts, Sano-kun?

I don't know. I'm always thinking about how to... think.

I just have to be careful. I can't let my mind wander.

[ Haruaki reaches over to rest one broad hand atop Sano's head, gently ruffling his hair back and forth. ]

That's too much pressure, Sano-kun. Everyone's mind wanders sometimes. You would have to go meditate underneath a waterfall for thirty years to become that monk-like.
